Read the following excerpt from my book ‘The NZ Small Business Superhero’s Marketing Handbook’ to find out why creating a dialogue with your customers will help you address their needs better…
An exchange of views and perspectives allows both parties to listen to, and influence the other, providing the mutual understanding that underpins enduring relationships.
In the pre-internet, mass production, mass communication era, the only dialogue in marketing (if it happened at all) consisted of market research to find out what the market wanted, and then the distribution and communication was all one way.
The internet has changed all that and savvy businesses which can take advantage of the two-way communication enabled by modern tools have the opportunity to build increasingly strong and profitable relationships with customers.
The more you know about what your customers and prospects are thinking, the better equipped you are to address their needs. The internet makes it easy to have a steady flow of information coming in from your customer base, allowing you to address any problem areas and tailor your products.
