What to post to your business’s Facebook page to increase customer engagement

As soon as you begin to build your “likes” on Facebook you need to start posting content on your wall that is of interest to your audience.

Read the following excerpt from my book ‘The NZ Small Business Superhero’s Marketing Handbook’ to learn what to post to your business’s Facebook page to increase customer engagement…

This can take the form of:

  • in-house company news;
  • relevant comment on current events;
  • valuable tips and information related to your industry;
  • upcoming events;
  • links to interesting articles and videos in your industry; and
  • current promotions you have running.

A quick point on this last posting idea: promotions – make sure you don’t overdo these. If all you ever do is pitch your products, then you risk your audience tuning out and eventually “unliking” your page. A good rule of thumb is that no more than one of every five posts should be sales-related.

As well as making regular posts of content that your followers will find of interest, you need to ensure you respond quickly to any posts made by them. This is especially the case if the content posted is not favourable.

If the content is downright offensive you can remove it, but if it is justified, then this presents an ideal opportunity for you to show how you respond to customer complaints and put the situation right.
