Email marketing provides opportunities for “set-and-forget” marketing, where email content is triggered by certain actions.
Read the following excerpt from my book ‘The NZ Small Business Superhero’s Marketing Handbook to find out how automated email marketing can provide opportunities to your business
An excellent example from Action Property Services is where new customers entered into a database trigger an immediate “thank you” email, and then a series of “reminder” emails every three months. Apart from entering the contact into the database (which takes less than a minute) the whole process is automated.
Here are some other examples where automated emails can be used:
- Retailers can send automated “rewards points reminders” (see Shoe Clinic example later in this chapter).
- Customer service phone calls can be backed up with a series of educational emails in your area of expertise for those customers who are interested.
- Web forms – when filled in by website visitors – can generate a series of emails (possibly in the form of an e-course) which are delivered over a period of days or weeks.
- Birthday or anniversary messages can be triggered to database members, based on a date field on each member’s record.
