Read the following excerpt from my book ‘The NZ Small Business Superhero’s Marketing Handbook’ to find out the key points for DIY database management…

  • Identify opportunities to capture data of customers and prospects through your day-to-day interaction with customers, prospects and suppliers.
  • Introduce a sign-up form for your customers which includes a clear statement that they will receive occasional promotional emails from you.
  • Collect the business cards of business contacts and, with their permission, enter them into your database.
  • Develop a strong “join pitch” for your website.
  • Decide on a system to manage your data – could be a spreadsheet, desktop database or integrated online relationship marketing system.
